Our Executive Staff
Principal: Kerrie Nelson
Kerrie holds a Bachelor of Education, Master of Education and a Master of Special Education. She has over 30 years experience in the disability sector and has spent more than 12 years specialising in autism spectrum disorders. She has been the Principal of three schools and has worked across age groups from early learning, through school-aged children to adult education. Kerrie was also a Special Education consultant at the AIS (Association of Independent Schools) for 2 years and served on the NSW Board of Studies curriculum writing team for the life skills program.
Administrative Director: Claire Allen
Claire holds a Bachelor Of Economics and has worked for 30 years across a range of industries including finance, publishing and education. Claire has worked for Giant Steps for the past 12 years and is responsible for all compliance and accountability issues pertaining to the organisation.
School Leader: Belinda Bingham
Belinda holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) and a graduate certificate in Professional Studies (Autism Spectrum Disorders). She has also taken post graduate units of study in sensory integration, sensory processing assessment, sensory processing in autism, and integrating the sensations of the mouth (M.O.R.E program). Belinda joined Giant Steps in 2003. Prior to this, she worked in a range of community health centres, providing Occupational Therapy services to children and their families including in their homes, pre-schools, schools as well as at the centres.
School Leader: Louise Ulliana
Louise has over 25 years experience as a Special Education teacher, school principal, consultant and speech pathologist in early intervention, schools and supported accommodation and employment service services.
Head of Music Therapy: Bronte Arns
Bronte is a registered Music Therapist and member of the National Council of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Currently working across the classes in the K to 6 program, she also coordinates projects across the school and supervises students from registered Music Therapy tertiary courses. She has presented papers on music therapy and autism spectrum disorders at a number of national conferences. Outside of Giant Steps she has run early intervention music therapy programs through Sing ‘n Grow, a federal government funded initiative to help build stronger families across Australia.
