Early Learning
Using the “NSW Framework for Children’s Services” and the NSW Board of Studeis curriculum to guide its key learning areas, the Early Learning program uses autism-friendly teaching principles and therapeutic input to provide opportunities for children to develop knowledge and skills in areas such as social interaction, thinking and problem solving, communication, motor skills and play.
The Early Learning program is split in to two groups – an early week group (attending Mondays and Tuesdays) and a late week group (attending Thursdays and Fridays). Wednesdays are set aside for home/preschool/community-based teaching support programs. As in all Giant Steps classes, music, speech and occupational therapies are delivered across the three days. When therapy and teaching come together to deliver programs that children find fun and embrace, then optimal learning takes place. Children may transition from the early week group to the late week group, to a mainstream school or to Giant Steps Kindergarten class. Apply here.
